The fundamental objectives of a NPA include preserving habitats, ecosystems and species in their most natural state, maintaining genetic resources in a dynamic and evolutionary state, safeguarding the structural characteristics of landscapes, maintaining established ecological processes, in addition to utilizing samples from the natural environment for the purposes of scientific and educational study and for environmental monitoring activities.
